I did know they still let you enjoy a cigar in San Diego? I know the parks and beaches are off limits are the local B&Ms also no smoking zones. I guess your porch is all that's left and knowing the California legislature they will try to take that away too.

It's actually nothing like that. There is no public smoking ban in California nor in any major CA cities that I know of. On the beaches there is a ban due to littering and not the actual smoke. Same reason for the no drinking law. I actually greatly appreciate this as the beaches are much nicer after the passage of the law. I don't like vacationing in cigarette butts. Parks are actually not off-limits for smoking, and I frequently enjoy a good cigar in the park whilst walking or merely enjoying the scenery. Almost got arrested that way, but that's another story. There is a restaurant smoking ban, and a public indoor smoking ban, but those are very lenient. B&Ms are fine to smoke in, and most restaurants can legally allow smoking on a patio or something like that. I don't find my smoking hampered by the CA or San Diego legislation at all.
