What do you like to drink with your cigars?
I really don't like soft drinks but while boating I'll drink a coke while smoking.
At home my preferred drink is Anejo Rum. Followed closely by scotch and Bourbon (which I have just grown a taste for).
Then it's Port.
It's all a toss-up after that.

It depends on what I'm smokin' but my favorite libations are (in no particular order)
- Port
- Scotch (single malt or blended)
- Cognac
- Vodka or Gin & Tonic
I stay away from beer because I usually lose the taste of the beer about 10 min into a cigar. Same happens with most mixed drinks.

Ice coffee, Beer, Ice water that's about it. Well if I'm at one of my cigar-B-Qs I might have a little stronger libation.

BEER!!! I like to try to match different beer with cigars kinda like food. If its a strong cigar i'll go with a strong beer and so on. Then again most of the cigars i like are on the stronger side as well as the beers. So its really not that hard or interesting. I also enjoy a little sip ( o.k. a lot of sips ) of Jameson with cigars.

I do enjoy Belgium beers with my cigars.

the two best bars in town for belgian beers are completely non-smoking now

its kind of good in terms of there is no smoke at all to interfere with the taste of the beverages (more belgian beers on tap than most beer drinkers have ever heard of), but it sucks that I cant enjoy a stogie there

A good microbrew. Great Lakes Brewing Company has some real good beers. I like my Murphy's Irish Stout, but it is so much better while sitting at a pub in Ireland. HefeWeizen dunkel is good as well.

Depending on when, coffee beans freshly grounded and brewed. Coffee is usually from Presto George's in the strip.

In order, I prefer black coffee, black beer (stouts and porters), IPAs and other ales, lagers, iced lattes from Leaf and Bean in the Strip, water, and finally soda (root beer or non-diet cola).

I don't pair liquor with cigars as a rule, but I do drink whiskies (mostly Jamesons but I'm no stranger to scotch or bourbon) while smoking. Purely to get drunk, not so much for the flavor combination.

Steelertrav,

I cant say much for your taste in NFL football teams but as far as pairing beverages with cigars I am right there with you!!!!! But I do prefer diet colas over non diet, in fact i wont drink regular coke. But coffee is definitely great with a strong stogie.

I take it from your location D.T that you like the Bravens. As we Stiller fans say, "You can take the team out of Cleveland, but you can't take the suck out of the team!"

That's what's great about cigars; they bring together people no matter their differing views and tastes (or lack thereof). :)

Back on topic, I just had a Padron 3000 with a dark french roast this morning.

Looks like NFL season will be fun Steelertrav!!! I think we start off at Pittsburgh but I might be a week or two off on that. The suck stayed in Cleveland when they left. Ha ha. (Minus last year) No hard feelings, I hope. Might be willing to wager a few nubs with u on those special sundays when we play each other.

We always have a hard go of it when we visit Batlimore (heh heh). I was so happy when you guys signed Deon Sanders. He really stunk up the field. And your choice of Kordell Stewart after we got the few good years he had? Priceless!

As far as betting on games, I'm all for it! I have room in my humidors for more cigars. :)

do the flying rats even have a quarterback this year? ya its not saying much in taste for a team that has been a sellout for 36 years, takes 8-10 years to get season tickets from the waiting list, and has 5 rings to baltimore's 1. And a city that had no team from 1984-1995 is no comparison to the Stiller tradition, And Modell had it wrong, Irsay, dead on right hopefully some day soon, we'll wake up to espn, and see the Mayflower trucks rolling out of Baltimore once again, Quote a Steeler fan, forever more

Gunbuyer,
The only thing you said that was any good was "Irsay Dead!!!!!" Yes we will have a quarterback this year. Don't hold your breath on that Mayflower truck thing. It's not Baltimore's fault that Tagleabu(sp) and the rest of the NFL hates us for some unknown reason and we couldn't get a team for 11 yrs. The Ravens have also been a sellout since the day they started.

Steelertrav,
Consider it a bet. How does a 5 pack Nubs sound to you?

Sounds good. Remind me closer to game time (my mind is notorious for doing a core dump on memories older than 2 months).

I guess I am the the only one that likes wine with a cigar? I really like a good red wine while I smoke one. Another thing I like to sip on while smoking is a Port. I dunno beer is ok with a cigar, but I like wine better, Beale.

I'll do red, never white. And yes, Port is a great accompaniment.

I find the tannins (sp?) in wine to off-putting for my taste (maybe I'm not doing it right). I haven't had port in a dog's age, but I have been known to quaff a bottle with a cigar or two. I just prefer the crisp, hoppy flavor of and IPA in the summer and a robust porter or stout in the winter with my cigars. In general, that is. I'll drink just about anything if its made of alcohol (no sambuca or other anise flavor liquors though). And if I get started on tequila, there's no stopping me. I used to drink that almost exclusively back in the day. Its not a liquor I can drink alone though. With all the ceremony involved, it begs to be enjoyed with good friends telling tall tales.
