I recently bought a new humidor about a month ago. i've seasoned it correctly. calibrated my hygro its about a 75-100 sized box. i've never had it full yet.

had about 25 30 cigars in there. i been trying to keep the humidity around 65% but i think my hygro was off. anyway the other day i opened it up to grab a nub and the connecticut wrapper was a little off color. darker and a tone of green like? 4 or 5 cigars on the bottom also looked a little green. i dont know if its mold or what, but it kind of sucks. i also store this humidor upstairs where the temp gets a little hot. i know i need a digital hygro,

and i'm thinking of trying some of those beads if anyone has any tips i would appreciate it. thanks

I bought a digi hygro @ Walmart for $7 & calibrated it. I also use water pillows since the humidifier that came with the humi sucks. They seem to work fine. I would suggest finding a closet in the middle of your house with no windows and put your humidor on the floor. Good luck!

If you have a basement that helps. I bought some Damp Rid I think it's call and it does a pretty good job of controlling the humidity.

Keep in mind you are talking about Relative Humidity. The higher the temp the higher the Actual Humidity will be even though the Relative Humidity is the same.

I haven't got the time, I'll post it tonight, but there is a very cheap solution to the beads you're thinking of, enough to hunidify whatever you need, I'll post it when I get home

Bingo. I worry more about temperature than I do about humidity. 65% at 70 degrees is a lot wetter than 65% at 50 degrees as the RH is relative to how much water vapor the air can sustain at max. Although I have a set-back thermostat, the floor with my humidor I keep the temp on "hold" at 73 in the summer (I aint Rockefeller) and 68 in the winter.
My humidifier is a set-and-forget and set to 64%. Analog hygrometers should be considered decoration. Get a digital (& these all show temperature as well).
