What do you think of the Serie O maduro & what size stick was it? I walk by them all the time at my local B&M but I ran across a steal of a deal for a box of 10 Dbl. Toros ($30.00). Just wanted to know if it was worth it.

Smoked a 466 Habano on Friday night. Boy was that good. It lasted for almost a full 2 hours (I must be a slow smoker). Smoked a Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles with my wife yesterday.

The series O is a very good cigar. Medium bodied and flavorful. Good stick!

Have a Cigar-B-Q tonight. All the poker guys and afew other get together and eat, enjoy cigars, drink beer, and talk. Great time we usually do the CBQ once a month during the summer. I think I'll take a JR Ultimate Cab and something else not sure what.

Skipper,
I am really into surf fishing and would love to know where you are pulling these fish from. Been fishing the Delaware Maryland beaches for several years and cant seem to hook up like that. I know people don't like to give exact locations but a general idea would be good.

$3 per stick? Absolutely. I find all Oliva cigars slightly under-priced thanks to the company owning their own plantations, rolling factories and other key components. We are the beneficiaries of a host of positive things due to all this of which price is part.
I have paid a lot more than $3 for cigars a lot worse than the Oliva O too many times to comment. The O is a great cigar.
As for what I have been smoking... Saturday I got together with some friends. I smoked non-stop form nono till 11 PM. In that time I had 2 Nubs, an Oliva MB3 and quite a few other sticks. Not all as good as the MB or the Nubs!

I agree completely, Oliva could easily add $1 to $1.50 to everything straight across the board and get away with it

Which vitola did you smoke in the CAO America line? I've had the Landmark & the Monument with my preference being the Monument. They are a little pricey in VA running anywhere from $7.85 to $10/stick + VA communist tobacco tax.

I had 1 Landmark that went out on me about 1/4 into the cigar. The CAO Rep re-lit the cigar and nothing. He gave me another Landmark which smoked perfectly.:D
I believe the Landmark was $9.95 + tax.

They had a special 4 pack box of Americas, 4 for the Forth, at ASW that I almost picked up. I tried an America when they came out and didn't like them enough to spend that much for them ($40 per pack IIRC). With vitolas like Padron, Oliva, Hoyo de Monterry, (I could go on forever with this list) I find it hard to spend more than $6 or $7 per cigar. I will get into the double digits occassionally, but it has to be a known quantity nowadays. I don't take risks on overpriced, overhyped cigars anymore.
Yesterday I had a Series V Lancero on the way to work and a NUb Connecticut at lunch playing basketball (well, its two bounce with old man rules, but it gets us out of the cube farm for an hour).

Haven't been able to pursuade myself into investing the cash in a box of those. I'm with steelertrav, there are so many other good cigars out there (Nubs being 1st of course) that are at a better price point and are a better smoke. Always good to hear someone else's take on a cigar though.

Byrdman, I agree with you. I just happen to be at the CAO event, and really didn't want to buy one more brazilia (which I have 3 of in my humi) or the Italia. I usually smoke the CAO Maduro, but since I haven't smoked the America, I thought I would give it a whirl. For the price I paid for the America, I could have gone to JR and bought 3 Gispert maduros, a handful of La Fincas or 2 Juan Lopezs. :D

For Independence Day, I had a Dominican Cigar from Rosario's Family Cigar (located in Bronx, NY). The cigar was mild to me, even though the guy who rolled the cigar said it was very strong.

Tonto,
Did you not like the America?
3rd time I've had the cigar. Draw was good, Construction was ok...still had some burn issues but it was better than the first 2 I had, at least no canoeing or tunneling this time.
Flavorwise....it seemed like it wanted to have a flavor, but it was all a muddied up mess. I didn't have any high expectations, and I was still dissapointed.
I still have 2 left from the original 5er, so maybe they came from a bad box....but I don't think I'll try them again.

Wow you guys smoke some serious sticks! I am still learning and have only been smoking cigars for about a year. Only 1 or 2 a week right now.
I have a JR'S about 2 miles away. Right now my favorite I have found is a Mayorga. I like the dark wrapper? Any how I have enjoyed reading about some really good cigars, Beale.
