OK, lets get contest #1 rolling.
First of all, this is the way all contests will work. A secret team of judges will select from all entries a set number of finalists. The finalists will be put on a poll for the membership to chose the actual winner. Not unlike American Idol (or Idle as I feel about it), or even Americas Funniest Home Videos. Same type of thing.
General rules will include no bashing of other cigar brands or people and try to keep things "work safe" or at least label anything that may be outside the bounds of office appropriate as NSFW. Still, remember this is a public forum and we need to maintain a level of decorum.
FINALLY, on to our first contest.
As the name implies, we are looking for songs. Original compositions. You may take actual existing songs and change the words. Just make it NUBBY. Make it fun.
Consideration will be awarded according to originality, length, applicability and entertainment value.
By Originality we mean how original your work is (this is obviously subjective)
By length we mean how long the song is. Obviously 1 sentence isn't much of a song. Also, if you are changing an existing work, substituting a single word with Nub alone will be considered short no matter how long the song is. Changing all the words for a few stanzas would be long and will go a long way towards extra points.
By applicability, the more it relates to NUB, this forum and the life and times of Sam, the more points will be awarded.
Finally Entertainment Value, make it funny, clever, just plain fun to enjoy and this too will go a long way.
This contest will work in two (2) categories.
Category 1, post your song in print (see example below).
Category #2, make a video. Post your video and the lyrics (in case we need help understanding them). You need not have a band, but it may help. Music in the background should be considered although acappella is fine too. You need not have any singing ability and I can't say what will help here, lets just have some fun.
Prizes: I cant quite say for now because I don't yet know what I will have to give away, but I will say that you wont be disappointed and the video category will be worth significantly more than the print category.
Because we are just getting started here this one will run for longer than 1 week. All print or text entries posted by midnight Sunday June 8th will be eligible. Sunday midnight June 15th for the video entries. Within a few daysafter the deadlines the finalists will be posted for the membership voting. Membership voting will go on for 5 days. Afterwhich the winner will be declared and the prize mailed out.
Any contest that has only 1 entry will receive a consolation prize (it's hardly a contest if there are no contestants)

The life he loves is Rollin NUBS for all his buds
Sam the man is on the road again.
(talk about applicability, because he's on the road is why I am helping out here).
