I am just starting to get into Churchills. Right now I am smoking a Romeo Y Julieta 100 year anniversary Churchill, a friend of my wife gave me a few.

I am enjoy the flavor, but I need a little advice. It seems that every Churchill that I have smoked (maybe 5 or 6) are very hard to draw thru. Am I doing something wrong here? The only thing I know to do is to lightly roll it in my fingers till it loosens up, but I am afraid at some point in doing this I am going to break but the outer leaf. I am kind of a bull in a china shop.

Any suggestions will be tried…

Thanks

If the draw is too tight on ALL churchills your smoking, maybe try cutting a little deeper or using a different cutting method. I wouldn't suggest rolling it between your fingers for the reason you just stated.

What kind of cut/cutter do you use? Does it also happen with some other cigars? One thought is that your storage might be too humid, which can make cigars harder to draw.

Might also be your Humidity levels to high--but still try the above and if that doesn't fix your problemo then try to dry box them a couple of days. Let us know what you find that fixes your problem--

I would first ask what is your RH and then check the method of cutting...

I would love to take two NUBs, but my local shop has not been supplied yet. As far as the high humidity I think that might be the problem. I was keeping my humi in my bedroom where we have a master bath. I was having some trouble with high humidity and suspected it was from the master bathroom. Since then I moved it to the dining room and have been successful in getting the humidity down. I also have been on occasion leaving the top open for a few hours here and there.

Today I took out one of Oliva churchills that was in the bottom drawer. It smoked perfect so I suspect that the humidity was the problem. I have moved my other Churchills to a dry box for a couple of days.
