SPOTLIGHT BRAND: The New Nub
The cigar industry was stirring this week with the announcement of a new blend - Nub. A joint project between Oliva and Sam Leccia, the Nub concept is wholly original, and expected to be groundbreaking. After studying and rolling cigars for years in Esteli, Nub founder Sam Leccia was convinced every cigar had a sweet spot, a core. His opinion was that during this core portion of the cigar, the cigar was at its peak in terms of flavor and complexity. He described this as the essence of a blend. Convinced he could capture this sweet spot over the course of an entire cigar, Sam partnered with Oliva to roll various cigars, each featuring short lengths and big rings. After a great deal of trial and error, they perfected the recipe in three blends. This intriguing new brand will be available beginning this April at select dealers. With a family like Oliva behind it, success is all but certain. Last year Oliva was one of the highest rated brands, receiving an impressive 94 rating from Cigar Aficionado for Oliva Serie V. It was one of the highest ratings ever given to a cigar.
